WRONG-WAY ACCIDENT CAUSES TWO FATALITIES

Car Accident

Every day we drive the same route to and from work or to and from school. We drive the same roads, wait on the same lights, and turn at the same stop signs. So when something happens out of the ordinary it takes us a second to recognize the issue and assess the situation. Depending on the situation, sometimes we do not have the liberty of assessing the situation in a safe way. For example, when you are driving down a road and suddenly see an animal crossing the road it may take you by surprise. You may have the chance to stop and let the animal pass. Sometimes you stop and go back to help the animal pass like a small turtle who is trying to cross the road. But there are some circumstances that don’t allow us the time to stop and evaluate. People who end up going the wrong way on the road are one of those times.

A SCARY STORY

Major highways have posted speeds of at least 55 mph. At best, people are going 60 mph if not more. It doesn’t take a genius to recognize that the faster someone is driving the less time you have to react and an even smaller margin of error. So if you are driving down the road and met with a driver driving the wrong way the likelihood of a head-on collision is almost inevitable. This is the true story of a woman who was killed by another driver who may have purposely driven the wrong way.

The year is just getting started an already there have been several fatalities including the deaths of two women on Interstate 8 near Dogwood Road. A 75-year old woman from South Carolina was driving 90 mph the wrong way on the high way. A cousin of the old woman did not have an answer for her behavior. All was said was that the older woman was homeless after she threatened the resident she originally lived with. The police who arrived on the scene did not smell any alcohol and a toxicology report will tell in due time if drugs were involved. Regardless of intoxication, the 75-year old recklessly drove and crashed directly into a 30-year old woman driving in the right direction. Two lives were lost due to reckless driving. It is an accident that could have been prevented had the U-Haul woman not been speeding in the wrong direction.
