Right now, we are learning that a medication used to treat heart failure is being recalled due to the presence of a possible cancer-causing substance. The company involved is Aurobindo Pharma USA, Inc. and the medication is Valsartan tablets in varying lots.

The recall is “due to the detection of trace amounts of an unexpected impurity found in the finished drug product.” The product is N-nitrosodiethylamine and is classified as a probable carcinogen in humans.
