Physical therapists 

Physical therapists, also referred to as PTs, help patients maximize their quality of life by means of hands-on patient care and exercise movements. Physical therapists work with patients in strengthening the body, building coordination and flexibility, and helping in the muscle maintenance of impacted limbs. Physical therapists can also help patients in integrating the use of a wheelchair, prosthetics or cane into their life.

Occupational therapists

Occupational therapists, also referred to as OTs, teach patients how to adapt to things in life. They help patients perform any type of task or “occupation” throughout the day, be it grocery shopping, toileting or bathing, or learning how to hold a fork again. Occupational therapists can help patients learn and relearn basic life skills. Occupational therapists can also observe housing and working environments. From there, they are able to suggest adjustments for the environments to be more beneficial to where the patient is currently in life.

A licensed mental health counselor can help with evaluating and treating mental health problems such as depression and anxiety through counseling and/or psychotherapy. Counselors can meet one-on-one and/or provide counseling to couples or families as well. Psychiatrists are also mental health professionals who can not only assist with counseling, but have the ability to prescribe medications with treatment of their patients.
