The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced yet another recall that could potentially affect California consumers. Ruiz Food Products is recalling 2.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry taquitos that may have been contaminated with both Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes.
The company decided a recall was necessary when they learned that onions used in the taquitos were recalled by their supplier for the same contamination reasons. While there have been no confirmed reports of illnesses from eating the taquitos, we know that this is only one example of how the products we purchase every day can cause us and our loved one’s harm.
